About Skylake

SKYLAKE GATED COMMUNITY IS A NATURE PRESERVE

This great mountain community is located in the Sautee Valley of White County, Georgia. Our 1300 acres are a magical place with over 300 acres in greenbelt and 2 fishing lakes. Covenants and restrictions keep our environment natural and as pristine as possible. The homes are all on lots thick with hardwoods, pines, mountain laurel and rhododendron. Lots sizes range from a little less than an acre to over 3 acres. The woods teem with deer, wild turkey, raccoons, hawks, pileated woodpeckers, goldfinches and numerous other birds. The most notable comment that visitors make here is “It is so quiet here”.

AMENITIES:

HIKING TRAILS: Over 12 miles of trails that range from level to steep wind their way through the woods, by the lakes and streams. Choose the degree of difficulty you prefer, grab your walking stick and head out and enjoy the natural beauty everywhere.

SWIMMING POOL: From May to September the sparkling pool hosts kids, families and friends. Jump in or just relax in the sun or under the shade pavilion. Starting in June, water aerobics are offered in the mornings.

LIGHTED TENNIS COURTS: Bring your racquets and gather with neighbors to play on these well maintained asphalt courts. With 4 courts there is always room to play.

SKYLAKE CLUBHOUSE: This is the center of most Skylake functions. A beautiful meeting room across the front of the building overlooks the lake. Step out onto the wrap around deck and sit in one of the rockers and watch the geese, canoes and fishermen. The entire back of the building has a basketball court, volleyball equipment, and is used for many functions including our town hall and annual meetings. It’s a great place to take the grand children when it rains. With rest rooms and kitchenette available, you can spend the whole day.

BARBEQUE AREA: This covered area is located between the lake and pool. Take your lawn chair and relax while the kids swim or fish.

CHILDRENS PLAYGROUND: Sturdy equipment that is kid friendly will draw you to the playground on days you have young visitors. It is located behind the tennis courts in a grove of trees. It is an easy walk from the pool parking lot.

HORSE BARN AND PASTURE: As you enter Skylake, you will travel along our beautiful horse pasture. There’s room for 6 horses in the quaint red barn. The walking trails are along both sides so you can enjoy the sight of horses grazing during the day and deer feeding at night.

SKYLAKE & LAKE SAUTEE: Your first glimpse of our community is beautiful Skylake nestled in the woods. As you look across the water to the mountains in the background peace will descend. This is the larger lake and covers 20 acres. Further back in the neighborhood is the 10 acre Lake Sautee. The lakes are formed by York creek after it comes down our waterfalls and streams through the pasture. Fish from the shore or use one of Skylake's canoes or jon boats.

YORK WATERFALLS & PICNIC AREA: Finding York Falls and its picnic area is like finding a retreat within a retreat. There is a large shallow pool at the bottom of the falls that the kids will enjoy splashing around in. Picnic tables, benches and cooking pits are provided. You can access the area by car or the hiking trails.

NEIGHBORS: Our favorite thing about Skylake is our neighbors. There are wonderful people of all ages and from all walks of life. Homes range from modest cabins to million dollar retreats. Residents don’t move out of skylake, they move around.
